Research Biologist Mary Middleton

Mary Middleton is involved in phytoplankton identification and analysis, water quality education and outreach, and field work related to interactions of shellfish culture with the natural environment, cadmium concentrations in oysters, and disease and environmental stress studies of shellfish. Mary has served as project manager and lead environmental educator for the "Scoopy Doo Pet Waste Education Campaign" for which she relies on social marketing principles and interactive, hands-on learning techniques to design and carry out environmental outreach and education to the general public.

Mary's previous work experience includes conducting salmon spawning ground surveys, limnology studies, and wetland monitoring. Immediately prior to her work with PSI, Mary served as the Education Coordinator for the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge.

Mary holds a Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Environmental Science from The Evergreen State College.
